Flexible Support That Moves With You

Kinesio taping is a supportive treatment technique that uses flexible, elastic tape applied directly to the skin. Unlike rigid athletic tape, it is designed to move with your body without significantly limiting your usual range of motion.

At Blustone Health, kinesio taping may be incorporated into a personalized treatment plan to provide additional support between appointments and during everyday movement.

What is Kinesio Taping?

Kinesio tape is a lightweight therapeutic tape that can remain on the skin for several days. The location, direction, and amount of tension used will depend on the area being treated and your individual needs.

Your practitioner may recommend taping to support a muscle or joint, improve awareness of how an area is moving, or help manage discomfort while you continue with your usual activities.

Taping is most useful when combined with appropriate assessment, treatment, movement, and rehabilitation rather than being relied on by itself.

Potential Benefits of Kinesio Taping:

  • Provide light support without rigidly restricting movement
  • Temporarily reduce pain or discomfort
  • Support comfortable movement during daily or physical activity
  • Increase awareness of posture or movement patterns
  • Complement massage therapy, physiotherapy, or exercise-based care

Results vary, and taping will not be suitable or necessary for every person.

What can Kinesio Tape be used for?

Kinesio taping may be considered for concerns involving areas such as the:

  • Neck and shoulders
  • Lower back
  • Elbow and forearm
  • Knee
  • Ankle and foot
  • Muscles affected by activity or repetitive movement

Your practitioner will assess your symptoms and determine whether taping is appropriate. Pain that is severe, worsening, or associated with significant swelling, weakness, numbness, or a recent serious injury may require further medical assessment.

What to Expect

The tape is applied to clean, dry skin and can generally be worn during normal daily activities. Your practitioner will explain how long to leave it in place and how to remove it safely.

Mild awareness of the tape is normal, but it should not cause burning, significant itching, numbness, or worsening discomfort. Remove it if irritation develops.

Personalized Support, Brought to You

Blustone Health brings professional treatment directly to your home, workplace, or care facility. When kinesio taping is appropriate, it can be added to your care without requiring another trip to a clinic.

Practical support. Personalized treatment. Care that fits into your day.
